Why it’s difficult to ship sprinter long distance
Transporting cargo and passenger vans is pretty common. The longer the trip, however, the harder it is to find a carrier for them, due to their height. Traditional open vehicle transporters can only house one layer of vans, making them inefficient for longer hauls, as shown in the picture.
This transporter can fit only 3 cargo vans instead of 9 standard vehicles, which is why transporting commercial vans can get expensive. Most van transports are done on wedge trucks that house only one layer of vehicles but wedge trucks normally travel under 1,000 miles.
As a general rule of thumb, commercial vans typically price as either two or three standard vehicles, depending on their length and/or height. We must take all this into account when looking for cross-country (or long-haul) commercial van transports.
