Manheim Gate Pass Example
When retrieving a vehicle from a Manheim auction site (and most other auctions, as well), the gate pass with the barcode is needed to expedite transport. Manheim will no longer allow a carrier to pick up without one, so not having a barcode means a long wait in the security line, sometimes for hours at busier auction sites.
You may notice that only the final gate pass contains the barcode. While a vehicle is still in post-sale inspection, the gate pass will not contain a barcode and it will say that the vehicle may not be picked up yet. Carriers cannot pick up with that gate pass, because it has not been released for transport.
In addition to skipping the long lines at auction security, having a barcode means a driver can scan the code with an auction app on their phone to find a vehicle’s location without assistance. Doing so significantly speeds up check-out, which of course means you get your vehicle delivered faster.
